You don’t need to have actually been
involved in a road crash to be affected.
You may have been a witness to a serious or fatal traffic incident, or a close
family member or friend of a person involved and there is no set pattern or
length of time for those experiences to occur or be resolved.
The severity and frequency of the symptoms may vary greatly in each
individual and the time span may be a few days , a few months or a number
of years in the absence of early emotional support and counselling.
Not all reactions are easily recognisable , although you sense that
something isn’t quite right. Some people are able to identify and share
their emotions, while others find both these task difficult.
Close associates and co-workers need to be aware that, although on the
surface people appear to be coping.
